Call of Duty Warzone on a Mac
Recently I got into Call of Duty Warzone and was playing on the PS4. On my previous post I decided I needed to get back to the Keyboard & Mouse route so glued some foam to a plank of wood and called it a Sofa Desk.
You can’t natively run Warzone on the Mac, at the time of writing this blog post, it’s available on PC, Xbox or PS4. But you can bootcamp a Mac!
After testing, for a few hours, COD Warzone runs absolutely fine on the mac. I’m using Windows 10 on bootcamp. I didn’t want to lose too much space so made the Windows partition 70GB and installed Warzone onto a 128GB USB3 flash drive.
I’ve found the USB performance much better using a single usb-c to usb3 adaptor, over a multi-hub.
Spec wise the Mac is a 2019 MacBook Pro 16″ with the i7 6-core processor. This model comes with IRIS graphics but also with a Radeon Pro 5300m, which has 4GB of dedicated graphics memory. So it’s By no means a gaming laptop, but it’s beefy enough to run the game alright.
The USB memory stick that COD runs off transfers at about 200MBPS so it runs nice and smooth, even though it’s not on internal storage.
I’m not seeing any lag or slow downs, obviously it’s a 4K screen and you’re not going to run on 100% scale but I’m running at around 50-55% with anti aliasing turned on and it looks decent.
