Turnigy SCT 2wd 1/10 – Option Parts
After building the Turnigy SCT 2wd 1/10 V2 Kit last year I spotted some areas I thought may be a little weak, e.g. front and rear suspension arm holding blocks. I looked into some alloy upgrades but annoyingly they were a) only available in the International Warehouse and b) Always on backorder.
I finally managed to get some Turnigy bits for the rear end but the main bit I wanted, the front bulkhead (lower suspension arm holding block) was always on back order.
I researched a few times and kept seeing posts which say the Turnigy SCT 2wd is a copy of the Kyosho Ultima SC. People suggest trying the front bulkhead as it might fit; I could never see anything which said someone had tried it though.
I found an ST Racing Concepts Aluminium front Bulkhead on ebay, for the Kyosho Ultima SC. It was $8, from the USA and had something like £1.50 postage. I took a punt. Worst case scenario I could stick it back on ebay and tell the world it didn’t fit.
However it fits perfectly. The Turnigy SCT is blatently a full on copy of the 4x more expensive Kyosho Ultima SC.
There are tonnes of aftermarket spares for Kyosho cars, both by Kyosho and other manufacturers. The best thing is they are readily available and you can order them in from the USA or Europe and don’t have to wait 3 weeks for them to come from Hong Kong.
The ST Racing Concepts aftermarket Bulkhead has a grub screw for each hinge pin which stops it moving about as that whole front end design is a bit flawed, I often had a pin become dislodge after a heavy front end impact.
