Summer is here?

Well there is another month yet but it sure feels like summer is here now. What a cracking weekend it’s been, blue skies, 24c earlier today. Not sure about yesterday, it was a blur of moving about 2 tonne of logs by hand from the front of the house to the rear. Removing Ivy, weeds, […]

First Music Video

Well we got bored of making music the other night so decided to make a video for one of our old tracks. It involved a Canon 60D shooting at 1080p, a bottle of port, several cans of Beer and a Bottle of Wine… Oh and some guitar, bongo and keyboard miming.

Finally an actual studio

I finally got the plaster board walls covered in thick lining paper to make them look less DIYish and I finally invested in some acoustic foam panels and bass traps. I also finally took down the fluorescent strip lighting and fitted a couple of pendant fittings instead leaving a wiring loom on the ceiling. So […]

Roland XV-2020

My new studio toy is a Roland XV-2020 Synth/ Sound Module. My M-Audio MIDI keyboard is plugged into it and it’s outputting to my audio interface.  So many amazing sounding patches, brings you back to the Nineties and Early Naughties. Something like 700+ Sounds! Next Job… Shift some Redundant Gear, Tidy Up and Spread Out!

Partition Wall Part 2

Well I boarded the stud work at the weekend and filled the holes & cracks. It’s foil taped an insulated the other side… It’s being papered straight over with thick textured paper along with ceiling and opposite wall, Then painted. Going to just dot and dab plasterboard to the side walls when I can be […]

Partition Wall

Just needs plaster boarding now. Nice and sturdy though.

The No-Valvestate 10

So that valvestate 10 came and after a stripdown… Turns out the only thing valve about it is the name. The valvestate 10 didn’t have a valve in it! Marshall apparently changed the name of the series a couple of years later as it was misleading. All the other Valvestate Range has a valve (e.g. […]

Oliver Climbing

Oliver likes chewing letters and things. I thought if I put the letters on top of the amp on the unit, it would be well out of his reach. The flaw to the plan was that he has secretly been perfecting climbing… And there was an object at an ideal height to lift himself onto. […]

Marshall Valvestate 10

I have a Marshall Valvestate 100 head (8100) and a 12×4 Marshall Cab that I got for about £200 last year. It was all working OK until I tried to push it hard from cold and it just constantly hissed, getting louder when you turn it up. After some googling and a 62p replacement IC […]
