Madrid
I am just sat at Heathrow Starbucks with a Medium Latte about to embark on a departure to Madrid. I’m going to there to do a Barracuda NG Firewall training course to learn Firewall stuff!
The car journey to Heathrow from Nottingham was smooth with an obligatory McDonalds Breakfast Wrap and Coffee on the way.
As I’ve only ever left the country with someone else and followed them like a little sheep through airports, Work joked that a) I wouldn’t find the long stay car park and b) I wouldn’t find the airport from the car park. (let alone board the plane) Luckily I found a space right near shuttle bus stop. But I can’t board the plane yet so lets hold that thought.
Bag check in took about 20 minutes, security a further 10. My flight isn’t until 11:35 so I’d hoped to pass the time with a beer or two… The restaurant was small will all seats taken and I couldn’t find an alternative source of Beer – so I settled for a coffee at Starbucks as there was plenty of seating.
First trip on my own to the big wide world and It was tough saying bye to my little man and wife for a week as the longest I’ve been away from either of them before is 2 days.
But I’m looking forward to Madrid, It’s an amazing looking City. The training venue is only 10 minutes walk from the hotel and it looks like there are tonnes of restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe within close walking distance. So after the 9-5 training It’ll be rude not to indulge in a burger and a pint of San Miguel. May even have to have some Tapas.
I’ll try to get some photos of some places in Madrid to post on here, in 10 minutes I’ll be able to find what gate I board from so I’ll go and have a sit over there to wait for my plane.
