Marshall Valvestate 10
I have a Marshall Valvestate 100 head (8100) and a 12×4 Marshall Cab that I got for about £200 last year. It was all working OK until I tried to push it hard from cold and it just constantly hissed, getting louder when you turn it up. After some googling and a 62p replacement IC from Maplin it was back in operation.
The amp is far too big for taking out the studio and used in the house so I thought if I can fix that.. I can fix a smaller one. There for I went on the hunt for a broken little Marshall, just something basic like a 10w solid state amp.
I stumbled upon a faulty valve state 10 (8010) on eBay which works but only at certain levels (e.g. medium to loud) so I stuck a bid in and won it for £6.50 – better amp than expected with its valve preamp and 8″ driver.
Here it is, I think it just needs a strip down, couple of pots and some re-soldering.
