The Human Brain
The human brain is a very strange thing.
I’ve just messaged a friend on Skype and when asked “What so ya know?”, I reeled off a topic and argument for and against said topic, where by the last time I heard any discussion of the topic was about 10 years ago on a talk show.
So how can that be stored long term in my brain for this one occasion of randomness yet I can’t remember important things that are required on a daily basis, such as phone numbers and door codes?
Is it because we create reminders now for everything so don’t need to remember, just like if I keep using satellite navigation to get somewhere, I don’t remember how to get there without it. If I turn off the Sat Nav and have a crack at getting there myself, getting lost in the process, I remember how to get there next time.
The problem is if we didn’t set reminders we’d forget and often forgetting even once isn’t an option.
The thing I remembered from 10 years ago has only been used this once, as a Random Fact in a Random Skype Conversation. Why did my brain choose to store that and not something I was meant to bring home from the shop?
Does this happen to other people or has my brain been wired up wrong? Do I have ROM in my RAM Slots and RAM in my ROM Slots?
The thing I remembered by the way is if you want the complete Hollywood Look, you have to consider Anal Bleaching, it’s what all the stars do. That is up there instead of Remembering to buy bread for the Family to eat, Remembering someone’s Birthday or my Remembering my previous two Mobile Numbers.
Sleep on That
