Mylo the Magic Dragon

Well, it’s a week since I got Mylo and he’s doing really well. He started eating the following morning and had his first poo a few hours later… Oh how it stunk.

I’m not that sure how much he weighed when I first picked him up but his legs have built up now and he’s certainly put some weight on. He weighs 35g now and is 9″ long. He’s grown an inch in lenght which I think is probably quite a bit in a week. He had a little mutant bit of bone on the end of his tail where he’d been fighting as a wee youth at the pet store but that’s dropped off now and he looks perfect.

He didn’t know what to make of the two geckos in their tank on the floor and freaked out a bit so ran off the scales did a bit of a lap round the room and was a bit timmid. After being back in his Viv for 5 minutes he was wolfing down Locust and meal worms like nothing had happened.

Dave (Sarah’s Beardy) has been pretty agressive in the past couple of weeks and not letting you near him to pet. When Sarah took the plunge and got him out he was OK after a few minutes now he doesn’t puff his beard up at you/ try to attack you and he keeps coming up to the window looking at us. It looks like he’s smiling and wants more petting – bless. Dave was 83g 2 weeks ago and now he’s 124g (fat mess).

So it’s 11/01/09 and Mylo is 9″ long from head to tail and 35g in weight. Watch this spot!

Mylo Getting some Warmth On

Mylo Getting some Warmth On

We’ve got a 3ft Vivarium coming on Tuesday or Wednesday which is going to be for Dave as he’s grown such a lot. This will leave Dave’s current 2ft Viv free for Mylo. We’ve got a couple of “Thermo control pro II” vivarium thermostats which also have fan control and realtime digital clocks for timing rather than traditional digital timers. Due to being of a geeky nature I feel the need for some awesome electrical setups in both Vivs. With the TCP II I think this should be possible. They are about as cheap (on eBay) as you would pay for a much lesser more basic thermostat system in a pet/ reptile store.

Onto the more geeky and less petty stuff… I put boxee on my Apple TV after flashing a USB pen with atvusb-creator-1.0.b10. Me and Sarah were watching lots of BBC iPlayer stuff such as Top Gear and QI and some Southpark on Comedy central. No downloads or purchases… Just Streaming. It’s of a very watchable quality and I reckon it’s another step closer to potentially replacing a product such as Sky or BT Vision.

Must Watch TV

As I mentioned previously, I have an Apple TV. I’ve setup a US iTunes account which I use with US Vouchers bought off Ebay. You get an amazing exchange rate… I just bought $200 for £47… That makes 1 song cost about 23p which is a lot cheaper than 80p if you use a normal UK account.

I dont really buy music anyway, I’ve been buying a lot of American TV shows and the latest films. Films are $14.99 for the latest ones which sounds a lot but at 23p to every dollar you get to keep a film for cheaper than you could rent one in the UK.

Films i’ve watched in the last week include, “You don’t mess with the Zohan,” this is a really funny Adam Sandler film basically taking the piss out of the Palastinians and Israelites, in a light hearted, American way. Another film I watched was “Journey to the Centre of the Earth,” this was a mediocre action film which ticks all the boxes for a good Kid’s film. From Rollercoaster ride type out of control mining karts, chases from Dinosaurs and Punching Venus Fly Traps. It was a reasonably enjoyable, light hearted watch.

I watched Idiocracy which is a funny film about how life is in 2505 when the thick, benefit fraudulent, baby makers populate the world. The Clever, career minded people don’t have many babies and the world gradually unevolved. There are a couple of Average people from 2005 who were frozen and their Pods got jammed and didn’t open for 500 years… They are cleverest people on earth and become present and first lady. Good film.

I’ve watched lots of other films which I can’t remember now… I’ve been watching quite a few TV shows now aswell, like Series 1 of the The Office USA. I have watched a few of the episodes from the latest series of Southpark, it doesn’t seem as a funny as it used to be, it’s still as crude and brilliant though. My favorite purchase has to be Knight Rider 2008. It’s a new Michael Knight, it’s a new car (New Shelby Mustang GT 500) there is pretty women, good special effects, lots of chases, lots of explosions and it’s all in HD. It costs me $1.99 per episode which is 47p for 40 minutes of Hi-Def entertainment… It’s so Good I watched all of the episodes today.

To be fair, everybody needs Apple TV… The price of content needs to come down for it to be viable for the UK Market, unfortunatly people don’t realise, just because you live in the UK, it doesn’t mean you have to be stuck with the UK TV shows high prices. US content rules!!

Another day Another Rental Car

The Honda is still at Honda, it’s repaired now but we are trying to sort out a warranty for it. I’ve been given a pretty good rental car now, it’s an 08 Plate Fiesta Zetec-S which is reasonably sporty. Apparently it’s got 100bhp and does 0-60 in 9.9 seconds, it does feel fast than that though, it may be due to me getting used to the 207 1.4L Muscle Car.

I didn’t blog about it before but the weekend before last Myself, Sarah, Jody and Sam went to the Jap Show at Santa Pod. We had a good time it was very windy on Saturday and very Rainy on Sunday. I went out a few times in Jody’s skyline on the drift track it was better in the rain though, good fun.

The tent felt like it was going to blow away constantly but this was OK because we had beer and cookies.

My Apple TV is amazing, I’ve bought/ rented a few films now. I only bothered looking at TV shows the other night, I can’t believe how many good shows there are to choose from on the American iTunes store. I got $100 worth of credit for £35 which is a very good exchange rate. It makes £10 films £3.50 which is what you would rent them for if you didn’t use a US Hotel as your Address and setup a new US iTunes account!

The new Macbooks and Macbook Pros are out and they look amazing. I like how the Macbook now makes the Macbook pro look cheap, even though it’s more expensive. They’ve closed the price gap and it makes you think – I really NEED a Macbook Pro. But I don’t, I’m not spending until after Christmas. I may be getting the previous Macbook Pro off Chris as my Company Laptop, providing he doesn’t sell it to fund his new purchases… Which would be understandable and honorable.

I’m off to email ‘JOBSY’ see if he replies.

“HELLO JOHDEE!”
